I thought that Stygian Onslaught would be a permanent game mode, but I don’t see it anywhere in 5.8 data. Anyone know how often SO will return?
Apparently it’s frequent, but it takes a break for the first week of the patch. The next one is on the 8th of August.

so…according to hoyo, it’a permanent EVENT. so it’s part of the events of the update, not a game mode.
they are announcing with every other event on the event overwiew thing on hoyolab.

how cracked will Durin have to be to replace Xiangling AND Bennett? iirc Xiangling’s biggest strength lies in her lack of an internal cooldown, meaning she can constantly proc reactions. They don’t do stuff without icds anymore, mostly just cause that was a remnant of early development
not to mention Bennett’s buffs and the sheer ease of getting Bennett and/or Xiangling to a high constellation level. I’m kinda worried about Durin’s powercreep if hoyo is going to try to replace Benny and Xiangling

this is nonsense, there has never been a single year, in which after 6.7 things are over, it has always been up to x.8 .. this nonsense have peopel said also already before for 5..x ,that Natlan woudl get not a 5.08 patch and wait.. what do we get in a fuckign few days. oh right 5.8 !!! go figure …
If 6.8 exists, it will start in late August, and therefore not a summer version anymore. People say there might not be a 5.8 for similar reasons, but I guess the devs figured late July to early September is still fit for a ‘summer version’.
August is still very much summer, I think autumn starts around when September starts.
I see a future where hoyo will rework old crap constellation. They won’t replace anything, but they’ll add some stupid game/pseudo-lore excuse to let us decide whether to switch to the new set.
The day they’ll realize they can squeeze money even from that, because none but <50 IQ guys could pull something like Albedo's constellation, etc.

while im not as pessimistic about it, i don’t think it’s unlikely that we’ll get buffs on some old characters now that hsr is doing that. hsr has a much sharper powercreep curve, so it makes sense they’d hand out buffs, but I could see a general Mondstadt to Inazuma buff or something

and yeah if the same company is doing that, they have no excuse in avoiding the same in genshin, at least in the long period.

The only realistic scenario where they don’t have any utility, is totally throw old charas in a pit. Like forget albedo forever, forget eula, they’ve never existed: just pull new ones. Ok in that case it could be.
But for a new rerun it’s a trash scenario. Why should I even pull them when I have mavuika or skirk, for the same cost I mean. because another thing is reducing cost, yeah.
It’s like paying a utilty car or a ferrari the same price, and even with the same manteinance cost. (same resources to level up)

Based on their names, I definitely see lots of Nordic, Slavic and Baltic inspiration here.
– Aino is straight up Finnish name, it comes from word “ainoa” which means “only one”.
– Vaijola sounds like a Finnish surname (If it was veijola, it would be).
– Perkun could be inspired by Baltic pagan god of thunder called Perkūnas or Perkons, depending of the country (in Finland we know him as Perkele, which also is probably the most well known Finnish curse word) and him being an Electro only fuels this theory.
– Veles is straight up a major god of earth, waters, livestock, and the underworld in Slavic paganism (I wonder what his element will be).
– Astrine sounds a lot like name “Astrid” which is a common name especially in Norway and Sweden. (And my name too, that’s why I’m the most interested about her).
I’m not sure about Ciuciya. It sounds more like a Natlan name than Nordic inspired name. If I had to guess, either Ciuciya or Astrine is the deer lady from the lates Nod-Krai teaser (because they’re only ones with the woman body type). I’m placing my money on Ciuciya.
I take back what I said about Ciuciya being the deer lady from the teaser. Apparently her name is Lauma (which btw means “herd” in Finnish, isn’t it funny that a half deer lady has name like that?)

User-Generated Content Gamemode (STC)
There will be a new permanent gamemode activated from the launcher where players can create content using elements from the game, much like Roblox Studio or UEFN. There will be two playable protagonists that can harness all 7 elements and a new map.
Info will be officialy revealed around the 5th anniversary.

* The gamemode may be called Miliastra Sandbox or Thousand Stars.
* You can customize your protagonist character. There will be a gacha system where you pull for clothing items for your character to wear. There will also be a Battle Pass.
