Fragrance ExtractionFragrance Extraction
Creates a Lumidouce Case that deals AoE Dendro DMG.

Lumidouce Case
·Fires Puffs of Puredew at nearby opponents at intervals, dealing Dendro DMG.
·When nearby opponents are affected by Burning, they will give off Scents at intervals, and 1 Scent can be created this way every 2s. The Lumidouce Case collects nearby Scents. The Lumidouce Case will level up after gathering 2 of them, after which it will fire 1 extra Puff of Puredew when firing, while the DMG dealt by and DMG AoE of the above attack will also be increased.
·1 Lumidouce Case created by Emilie herself can exist at any one time. The Case starts at Level 1 and can go up to Level 2. If the Case does not collect any Scents for 8s while it is on the field, it will go back to Level 1.

Arkhe: Pneuma
At intervals, after Emilie creates a Lumidouce Case this way, a Spiritbreath Thorn will descend in front of her and pierce her opponent, dealing Pneuma-aligned Dendro DMG.

"The world is an endless harmony of fragrance, color, and song."

Aromatic ExplicationAromatic Explication
Guiding the fragrances collected within the Case, Emilie converts them into pure Dendro energy, creating a Level 3 Lumidouce Case and stowing existing Cases away.
While it exists, the Level 3 Lumidouce Case will not gather nearby Scents, but it will continuously cause Scented Dew to descend, attacking opponents within range and dealing Dendro DMG. During this time, 1 drop of Scented Dew will descend every 0.3 seconds, and 1 opponent can become the target every 0.7 seconds.
When the duration ends, a Level 1 Lumidouce Case will be recreated. If a Lumidouce Case was stowed away when using Aromatic Explication, then the Case that was stowed away will be deployed instead, and its duration will be reset.
While Aromatic Explication is active, the Elemental Skill "Fragrance Extraction" will not create a Lumidouce Case.

No matter the perfume, it will begin to change the instant it comes into contact with the air, before finally dissipating amidst the whispers of wind, trees, and grass. In that sense, no two people will appreciate the exact same fragrance.
So it is for the paths taken by all who live. In that sense, you can consider perfumes an explication of human life.

Character DetailsThere is much that may be said when discussing a bottle of perfume.
We might speak of its fragrance: How it first bewitches with its top notes, before gradually melding with its wearer, and finally taking a subdued bow amidst the lingering aroma.
We could speak of the concept underlying its design: Is it meant to enliven the spirit, or to lend an aura of alluring mystique?
We might even debate the most appropriate occasion for its use: Would one be willing to attend a social ball clad in this aroma, or would it be better suited to suffusing the atmosphere of a private date?
Emilie finds these matters to be most worthy of discussion, as they are intimately related to how one selects a perfume. Compared to such considerations, the precise identity of the perfumer who prepared the scent is not a factor that needs to be contemplated when making one's choice.
Alas, neither customers' views nor popular trends are easily shifted. A herd mentality that craves security often leads people to prefer purchasing from well-known brands or designers, for one rarely goes wrong that way.
Fame, therefore, is a double-edged sword. The more famous one is, the greater the odds of receiving negative feedback, and many are exhausted by treading upon such thin ice.
But Emilie, famous though she is within Fontaine's perfume industry, seems untroubled by such.
Her products are free-form, spontaneous — indeed, she worries not at all about designing perfume, for her true profession lies elsewhere.
Character Story 1Having handed her signed and stamped power of attorney documentation and confidentiality agreement to the Maison Gardiennage officer for perusal, Emile steps over the cordon and onto the scene.
She has already been apprised of all case-critical information: the number of deceased, the state of the corpses, and the parameters of the cleanup required. As to other case details, she is neither curious nor inclined to ask further questions.
The bodies, as well as severely damaged objects, have already been removed. And so she inspects the area meticulously, making mental notes of things that might be easily missed or difficult-to-clean areas that require extra attention.
She has encountered many such crime scenes, and with time, has been able to piece together in broad strokes the sequence of events — through the directions of blood spatter, the traces left by the residue of human tissues, and how objects fell.
Still, this is not her professional duty. In the most infrequent of circumstances, of course, she will be invited to use this experience to aid the Maison in recreating crime scenes. But this is not one of those special cases. This case is already closed, and as a "forensic cleaner," she needs only draw a line under it.
And so she silently dons her protective clothing and goggles, and gets to work. All goes well. Chemicals dissolve and wash away the rust and dark-brown, even black-colored stains, while sticky tissues and sharp fragments are cleaned separately. The harrowing scene and horrid smells are wiped away, erased like erroneous brushstrokes from a canvas.
Finally, she invites the Garde, who has been waiting all this time outside, back in. They convey their thanks and bid her farewell, before manually removing the cordon.
Emilie remains silent as she changes back into her previous outfit. She cannot help but think that though the deceased should already have been buried as those dear to them watched, parts of them have only just now been put to rest.
She adjusts her hat, nodding her head slightly toward the clean room, bidding a final farewell to persons completely unknown to her, as if she too were taking some small part in their funerals.

Character Story 2According to certain psychological theories, creative types are even less concerned with the placement or organization of their belongings than most. Short passages containing such personality analyses are often found in the corners of Fontainian magazines and tabloids, and they even rerun every few days, as if the editors think people cobble their self-understanding together from such fragmentary pieces — not to mention possess deficient memories.
Such ideas are clearly stereotypes, for none would claim that Emilie wants for creativity, while her home is perfectly spick and span. To claim that a perfumer so famous lacks imagination, her modestness or otherwise notwithstanding, would be to categorically deny the Fontainian perfuming profession in its totality.
But Emilie's home is, if anything, overly clean. Few furnishings stand atop the visible flooring, and most items have been carefully packed into hermetic compartments. Indeed, one can barely tell that anyone lives there. Even friends who occasionally visit, such as Chiori, bluntly ask if this is a manifestation of some kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Emilie simply laughs, saying: "It has to be this way, that's all."
Her dwelling is not large, but it has two workshops, one for perfuming, and the other for mixing the chemicals needed for her work. Neither allows for flasks or other items to be placed haphazardly, and so, while she has no love of daily drudgeries or household chores, Emilie has had to slowly learn the strict art of organized stowage and storage, habitually drawing clear lines between the different aspects of her life.
This terrifying discipline is something she has mastered with some ease — just as one separates dangerous reagents into separate vials, so too does she create freely in one bottle, while accumulating the experience that crystallizes out of solutions in another.
* Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 3
Character Story 3When she is free, Emilie often goes to have dinner with her parents at their place.
Her father is an officer of the Marechaussee Phantom, while her mother works in forensic medicine, and they often invite over human and Melusine colleagues alike as guests. One can only imagine just how many unusual conversations this rather ordinary-looking dining room has hosted.
Of the many topics discussed, Emilie's trajectory through life is one of the more normal ones.
When children her age were still reading comics, Emilie was reading her mother's work texts. She was fascinated by the mystery of chemical reactions, and began to formally study related disciplines. Such skills should surely prove useful, but just what kind of work should she pursue? Work in a crime lab, perhaps — so her father suggested.
Though, such work always came with an element of danger, so it was best to learn a little self-defense from him first if she wanted to join — so he quickly added.
For a long time afterward, Emilie would work toward this goal.
But one day, her parents opened a bottle of red wine before the meal, as they lamented what had happened that day—
The Marechaussee Phantom's duties were to pursue the truth, but once that was done, any remaining fallout was left in the hands of the heartbroken bereaved. When some family's child commits suicide, soaking the rug with their blood, and the Gardes sent to investigate merely rule it a suicide and leave... Just how will the parents feel, left to pick up the pieces and clean up what remains of their child?
Agnostic to purpose and intent, the nature of chemical reactions was the same, just like human emotions.
Perhaps... Perhaps she could help.
Having had the thought, she later put it into action. She named her profession that of a "forensic cleaner," making modifications to the chemicals she originally intended for use in tests, such that they became cleaning agents that could wipe away all that remained on any given scene.
Of course, though the environment itself might be cleansed anew, the pain could not be so purged. Still, Emilie can share some small part of the burden, that those left behind will not have to shoulder it alone.
* Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
Character Story 4Life is unfair, and not all have the luxury of enjoying their hobbies. Thus, Emilie truly treasures such opportunities.
Collecting perfumes was once her mother's hobby, but due to her work, she was able to apply them less than frequently, and so those top-shelf fragrances would eventually become Emilie's treasures. She loved the shiny bottles and the clear fluids within, basking in the mysterious reactions produced by interwoven aromas.
It was due to her hobby of perfumery that she later became quite taken with traveling to gather materials.
She has scaled snowy mountains few have traversed, and squeezed her way through the packed markets of other lands. Fragrances are shapeless, and are thus easily overlooked, but they are a necessary component of any person's living environment. Most people have somewhat unvaried preferences in this regard, but Emilie accepts all comers. Good, bad, simple, complex, Emilie carefully categorizes them all in her heart, and they form for her a bridge to understanding this world.
From such a perspective, fragrances are no luxury, but rather, a thing that people can naturally enjoy... and thus, perfumes should be no different.
Of course, this is very much against market trends. It is practically taken as a given that those crystalline, gem-like products should be placed under the searing spotlight and sold at extravagant prices.
And Emilie remains but a hobbyist, and as such, cannot change this state of affairs by herself. Thus, many of her works have never reached the shelves of any shop. As one who works outdoors herself, she has designed insect-repelling, anti-perspiration perfume, though such a notion doesn't even sound remotely romantic. She also developed a fragrance specifically for Melusines to enjoy, but humans seemed unwilling to buy them.
Not that she was disappointed, of course. That she could get these products into the hands of those who needed them was satisfaction enough.
Of course, she does have some real regrets. For example, the risk of small animals knocking over or inadvertently ingesting chemicals keeps her from having a psychological support pet, which limits her to playing with other people's puppies in the park.
Naturally, she also has to avoid wearing perfume when going to meet them. Animals have sensitive noses, after all, and she would very much like to be their friend.
* Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 5
Character Story 5People often propose rules for groups in an attempt to explain certain phenomena.
In her work as a forensic cleaner, Emile encounters large quantities of human tissue, some Fontainian, and others not. Being meticulous in her preparation of the relevant cleaning agents, she gradually discovered that Fontainian human tissue structures seemed to have minuscule differences from those of other nations.
Discreetly investigating, she discovered something strange that very, very few had ever noticed. Even those who had some awareness would simply attribute it to Fontaine's special natural environment. After all, people in some places experienced greater hair loss, while people in others had naturally slim fingers... All a matter of their living in the same environment giving rise to those traits.
Emilie sensed that the truth might not be so simple, but she tentatively accepted that explanation.
At least, she did until after the "prophecy" had already come to pass and she received some new cleaning commissions. She found that those minute differences between Fontainians and humans from other nations had silently slipped away, like so much water flowing between one's fingers. Indeed, it was like they had never existed.
After giving it much thought, Emilie decided that she would seek the answer for herself.
She paid Iudex Neuvillette — who had allegedly once given a full account of the origin of Fontainians at the Opera Epiclese — a visit, and related her doubts to him.
He considered this for a moment, before informing her: "Fontainians are now true humans."
"Are now," he had said. Some change in Fontainians, then, must have indeed occurred in the fulfillment of the prophecy.
That was enough for her. She needed no further details, having only desired confirmation. Indeed, she could already perceive that the details constituted a threshold ordinary humans should not trespass, let alone seek to. In her work with the Maison Gardiennage, she had already signed many confidentiality agreements, both great and small, but no document was needed to tell that silence was the best course here.
Perhaps this was even, in truth, no big deal. Her life had not changed, and in fact, things were simpler now that her concoctions needed to make no distinction based on national differences.
And so, she would keep this secret in the same place where she held all those joys and sorrows, reunions and partings — locked deep in her heart.
* Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
"Constructed From Real Events"Chevreuse, Captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol, once gave this assessment of Emilie: not a romantic person.
Emilie has responded to these stereotypical expectations people have of perfumers with a serious explanation: Once a perfume is out on the market, the right to analyze it passes from the perfumer to the purchaser. She herself might detect a whiff of her childhood in the scent of Marcotte, but others might sense love, invigoration, and perhaps even regret. A person responds to things based on their experiences, and in such matters, one cannot generalize. If the perfumer does not take the fragrance development process seriously, but instead pursues the romantic color of some specific place and emotion, they will likely wind up with an undesirable result.
"And is that why you keep newspaper clippings? To collect the experiences of people?" Chevreuse asked.
"Sort of," Emilie thought to herself. She had not taken those clippings specially for that purpose, of course. It was just part of her reading habits, being more interested as she was in real-life happenings than in the constructed narratives of novels.
Of those various excerpts, the vast majority were serious reporting, while another small part could be compiled into a list of "The Decade's Top Ten Incredulous Situations." These hilarious newspieces were fuel for casual conversation between Emilie and her friends.
As for Chevreuse, she preferred novels.
By this logic, it seemed that of the two of them, the Special Patrol Captain was the romantic. But though Chevreuse's great love was crime fiction, she was quite perplexed by the emotional entanglements of the characters therein, instead enjoying expounding at length upon how responsibility should be apportioned among the various parties.
So, not the most romantic, either.
And so, while their interests might differ, how they think actually has some similarities — a fact that goes some way to explaining why they became friends.

VisionEmilie often receives cleanup commissions after cases have been concluded, and by the time she arrives, none are left at the scene but an officially posted guard keeping watch, allowing her to conduct her work in peace.
But sometimes, the scene is not so silent.
Emilie reached the scene of the incident to see the dazed kin of the victim pacing around the perimeter of the cordon. It was a young lady, her eyes dead husks, knowing not where to go or what to do — only that she couldn't bear to leave. This, in truth, was no obstacle to Emilie's work. She could have simply shown her papers, accessed the site, and completed her cleanup. That was all her duty demanded — it was just her job, business as usual.
Still, she hesitated. Greeting the Garde on duty, she walked toward the lost soul.
Over the next few hours, Emilie sat by the woman's side in silence as the latter slowly told her stories of herself and the deceased. Emilie did not reply all that much. She merely held the woman's hand, patiently waiting as the tale stumbled forth, waiting until all the anxious thoughts and troubled words had been exhausted, until only quiet sorrow remained.
That pain was unavoidable. This was all she could do.
The delay caused her to finish her work very late, and as she stowed her tools and chemicals away, the last light still peeking through the window was already quite dim — all the better to highlight that glimmering Vision.
From that day on, she would never again put any time limit on her work, always leaving ample time to spare. If any there should need a listening ear, there she would be to hear them.

  1. 激化 is “quicken” so her untranslated passive gives her +36% dmg dealt to enemies in the burning state and -90% dmg dealt to enemies in the quicken state

  2. Her A4 talent restriction: “Emilie cannot trigger this effect for 30s after triggering Catalyze or Spread.”

I get they want to block her from being in a team with electro characters but I see an issue where as soon as 1 electro enemy is in the mix her toolkit breaks down no matter how you build her team. I would hope this gets amended to just blocking electro party members and not making her useless vs electro enemies.

  3. I don’t know what the intervals on E are yet, but I think it’s already safe to say that the character is meh.

If we consider her in a team of 2 Pyro + Emilie + Anemo, then Emilie takes the slot of Xiangling, which with the anemo set buff will give if not more, then about the same amount of damage.

If we consider Pyro + Dendro + Emilie, then alas, there is no dendro char with high scales in the game, they all preffer electro char for spred. And even if some new dendro char comes later, he will also probably preffer spred.

If one considers a certain meta with a set for burning, it is nonsense. She can wear it herself, but needs dendro set. Main pyro DD has stronger alternatives (or can get more buffs due other characters), benet doesn’t need that set, and neither does Xiangling.

  4. so she is only for burning or burn-melt teams?
isn’t her dendro application good for aggrative or hyperbloom teams?

    • Her dendro application is mid, but the real factor is that when Emilie or the electro character do reactions together, Emilie’s passive stop functioning, and she deals 90% less damage.

    • Unorthodox idea: Emilie’s ultra-long E fits Cyno perfectly; it’s also a summon, so unlike Nahida, Emilie would have no trouble against multi-wave weak enemies. Her self-debuff with Catalyze can be neutralized with Golden Troupe and Furina (assuming it’s a -90% DMG bunus).

…I see why they had to put that debuff there. She needs decent Dendro application to keep the Burning up, so limiting her Dendro app. isn’t an option; without the debuff she can easily be too good with Catalyze, that either nobody will care about Burning, or the devs would have to make her overpowered with Burning.

  5. Stats look confusing….

ATK buff (sig weapon, cons, artifact), crit rate (sig weapon), crit dmg (asc. stat bonus) do not work with burn reaction naturally. And none of her kit allow these stats to have any special leverage either.

And with zero EM on her natural kit, her base burn damage will be quite low.

    • I think the EM should be the one who trigger burning hence the pyro one. She just using burn mechanic but her true damage still come from Crit natually, and if you want the burn to do more damage you better build your EM on pyro unit in the party instead of her.

    • Pretty much Yae or Fischl but Dendro and not gonna play with electro rection. I think the main souce of damage is still her personal crit one and she just using burning as a mechanic.

Kinda seem ahead of time and wait for Natlan burning focus Characters to come, pretty sure she’s gonna become fun to play character.

      • No one else sees a dendro albedo in this kit? One that is actually a bit restricted to non-electro, and relies on pyro for best dmg (albedo had no such requirement). The numbers look good though, and don’t get me wrong, dendro is albedo can be super useful later on. She seems to be geared well for burgeon, a reaction I bet we’ll see more of in natlan. Burgeon scales off of pyro character’s em, so don’t need em on the dendro unit. Looking forward for more em scaling pyro in future

    • she work like navia, her reaction is not that important but a requirement to boost the personal dmg of her skill. She is an off field dendro that will work normally if used outside of burning comp, that is why she has a lvl1 summon if her reactions are dendro based only. But if you use her on burning comp her perosnal dmg increase(her summon will become lvl2). She will mainly be a reverse melt enabler because other dendro off field will have weaker base dmg compare to her because of her kit.

    • Outfit design is… well I’m glad she has her fans, at least! And I keep saying this and then never pulling, but yay a new PWJS user for me! And she’s green!

As for kit… Navia, Freminet, and now Emilie are by far the most boring approach to “lets do something for this weaker reaction”. It’s a slight difference in team building (less for Navia, the usual suspects still show up there) but overall the reaction still does nothing to help anyone else. One their own, these reactions still barely have their own archetype. Burning can at least piggyback off melt, but sheesh. Can’t utilize Shatter teams against Triple Kenki, that’s for sure.

I might pull for her depending on the 4* roster, but Unfinished Reverie turned into a unit is about as interesting and versatile as the artifact itself. Still failing to revolutionize a subpar reaction beyond small team niches. Where’s my Burning Nilou, hoyo baby???

I don’t mean to sound like a doomposter, I swear! I’m just a fan of transformative reactions. She seems kinda strong (her ass is NOT keeping that E snapshot, hoyo isn’t that nice). I dunno, if we had a companion unit that increased Burning’s raw damage, so that all the Pyro numbers weren’t near useless. Emilie doesn’t really give Burning it’s own identity, you know? She’s just Lyney with a reaction based twist…

  6. So she is a Crit Damage scaling character with a Crit Rate weapon, which buffs burning damage btw, that uses Atk as her main stat to do damage but can only access the full amount of damage if she is on a burn team, which isn’t the greatest reaction. I have read other comments saying that burning is not a real big source of damage for her, just that she uses it to access her kit. The question that I have to that is why? Burning makes it sound like she should be running the new set but if it is not a main source of damage for her kit, wouldn’t it be better to use Golden Troupe? That makes it seem like her best use is as a dendro applicator but that wouldn’t matter as much in a Burning team since you really don’t care about that damage. I like her design and kit sounds interesting but I think it’ll be a skip until we get a new 4 or 5* that is a niche buffer for the burning reaction. I’m sorry but I don’t think Nahida C2 or otherwise is enough to save this one right now.

Side note…How many crit damage/crit rate scaling characters are we going to get this patch cycle? Did they forget that supports exist that may need EM or ER? I literally just pulled Navia, Chiori, and Chlorinde( didn’t want Arlecchino. don’t hate me) and they all have crit rate/damage scaling and weapons. Literally 2 out of the 8 5’s we have gotten so far DO NOT scale with crit rate/damage. My teams need more that damage dealers. For those who may be wondering why I chose to pull for Chloride instead of Sigewinne, I don’t need another hyrdo healer when Kokomi exists.

i didnt read this but i guess many people are wondering the same thing, it’s very weird
i personally dont care at all about metaslave shit complaining, i just want to understand how she’s supposed to work, because those multipliers look like a diona-dori-charlotte level, and it’s a total waste for her kit
this is totally nonsense, or devs team is reaching new levels of insanity idk

      • Emilie hits hard so Emilie has a really strong team in burning. Think of her as a Fischl in aggravate, except for burning. Her skill hits 28 times in its duration (14 with lvl 1, double it if lvl 2). Her burst hits 9 times, has some AoE, and basically quadratic scaling like Ganyu’s. her A1 passive hits 4 times which is already a 2000% multiplier total.

Since burning is just weak by itself and is instead an enabling reaction to advance into melt or forward vape, Hoyo decided to make a dendro character that is an actual sub dps that is buffed by the reaction. Otherwise, she would just be a different shade of Nahida- weaker elemental app but more dps damage.

Her dendro app is also pretty good. 7 times of dendro app from skill. Burst applies dendro 4 to 5 times per enemy. Her A1 applies dendro 4 times in a rotation.

Emilie has no inherent issues which is much better than a sidegrade that ends up with other issues AKA clorinde. Like Emilie has a cheap burst cost, infinite uptime, wide range circle impact, redeployment, and damage to back it up. Emilie is very solid in her niche. We just need more cryo characters for melt or maybe more slow hydro applying dps., So if Diluc was hydro.

true kit or not, nowadays a c2 like that is absurdly bad. You can’t pull another copy after c1 to get 36% atk only come on

    • Wrong, she doesn’t buff burning damage, neither does the new set buff the burning damage. Both of them give you increased damage if there are burning enemies nearby, there’s a difference.

As for her artifact set, you can’t ignore deepwood memories either, no better dendro shredder than her who doesn’t scale from em

      • you are right. her weapon and the new artifact set don’t buff Burning damage. I got that wrong. is there anyone that has the numbers to say if the 50% damage bonus on the artifact set is enough to offset Burning’s crappy damage? It does make me wonder why make her beholden to the burning reaction if she doesn’t buff the burning reaction. it’s not like we have a support for that just yet. Basically it’s a massive team dps loss to run a burning team instead of catalyze/spread or hyperbloom. it’s like they specifically want her to be a dendro applicator for burning without the payoff. that’s why I said she is probably ahead of her time. I don’t think she is a bad character at all. It’s just that I don’t think most people need this type of character in general if there’s not an incentive to use one of the worst reactions in the game. What she really needs in a EM Pyro support that can proc burning at a consistent rate and can increase the damage of the reaction. we just don’t have that yet.

Also why would you run her as a dendro shredder when she only functions in one dendro reaction and there is Nahida who is so good at shredding already? I know you can run deepwood as a sub dps but I’m willing to bet most people only farmed that set for EM scalers. To me it seems far more logical to either put her on Golden Troupe, since most people probably have a decent Atk set for that, or suffer farming for the new set.

        • They are probably setting her up as a burgeon support for natlan, I assume we’ll see some em scaling pyro soon.

Nahida relies on em and atk, emilie relies only on atk. You could put nahida on gilded from now, emilie on deepwood, unless you are a hardcore minmaxer or use an em buff team and already have nahida on 1k em without gilded.

Alternate is emilie on new set & nahida on shred. This way emilie will do better damage, but nahida will do lower damage and buffs etc. Ig we do really need numbers here to be certain, but teamwide em (& more nahida dmg) vs 35% dmg on emilie only?

      • Don’t think I’ve seen this question asked yet but does anyone know what kind of damage her A1 does if it is not Elemental Skill damage? If the Scent generation from her E is quick enough, her A1 could be a good source of damage for her. Also some of her cons assist in Scent generation so that could mean more procs of her A1. Thoughts on how good it could be?
