| Character Details | Candace, who has heterochromatic eyes, serves as the guardian of Aaru Village. Candace always shows the greatest kindness to all travelers visiting the village, and she will not pursue an inadvertent faux pas so long as that person corrects themselves in time. In Candace's view, the village rules are the most important thing. So long as these boundaries are respected, anyone can be allowed to rest in Aaru Village. But woe betide those who regard this tolerance as weakness. Those who try to do anything illegal in Aaru Village will definitely pay the price. By then, they will find that Candace's lance and shield truly are the most frightening of weapons. The scion of Al-Ahmar, a member of desert folk, the Guardian... Candace, burdened as she is with multiple identities, also bears the eternal responsibility of guarding Aaru Village. "This village only welcomes those who can follow the rules." |
| Character Story 1 | "Aaru Village is the final refuge for King Deshret's descendants." "The mission of the Aaru Village's Guardian is to guard the village till the last of King Deshret's people fade away." When Candace was officially appointed as the new "Guardian" at the tender age of eight, the one who handed the position over to her admonished her as such. With King Deshret's death, it was already a blessing that his descendants might have such a refuge from the world. And so, generation after generation, the Guardians take up their duties in silence, defending countless villagers until they pass on as the "descendants of King Deshret" and gain eternal peace. It was once the common wish of the residents of Aaru Village to fade away in peace, sequestered in their village. However, when new life emerges in this ancient village... | Character Story 2 | When Uncle Anpu, the village head, announced that a caravan from Sumeru City was about to arrive in the village for trade, the former Guardians could hardly believe their ears. They indignantly accused Uncle Anpu of undermining tradition and requested that Candace, the current Guardian, do her duty by summoning guards to drive the merchants out. However, Candace refused the request, for she had already reached an agreement with the village head that the village must make changes for the future of its residents. They kept explaining, but the former keepers did not relent, and it was even suggested that if Candace was unwilling to do her duty, they would take up arms again and carry out a Guardian's work themselves. At last, a clang of lance against shield silenced all the quarrels. With lance and shield in her hand, Candace stood up and looked around with a smile, before announcing to the stunned elderly folks around her: "It is good to see you all in such good spirits." "But I am the current Guardian of Aaru Village, so please, go and rest, as you should." The persuasive power of weapons trumped words at this moment, and it seemed that it would be enough to end the fracas. After a moment's preparation, Candace accompanied the village head in her station as Guardian to formally receive the caravan and hold trade negotiations with them, before personally escorting them out of the village. A few days later, the merchants visited again and completed this seemingly humble transaction regarding cloths. This batch of merchants returned to Sumeru City with news of the success of the deal. Soon after, a new topic cropped up among the business-folk of Sumeru, one which had been rarely heard of in the past: "Hey, you know what? | Character Story 3 | In truth, Candace doesn't often use her lance and shield as debating tools. The children in Aaru Village have always believed that "Big Sis Candace" will only frown no matter how angry she is — at most, she might ask the children in trouble to copy the calligraphy prepared for them by Grandma Kulsoom several times. The other guards in Aaru Village believe that although Candace's requirements are strict, she will not give out corporal punishment to those who slack off or whose physical abilities are not up to par, and that she will simply guide them with more care instead. The older folks in the village, for their period, note that Candace is a person who will not let negative emotions show on her face, and indeed, she has never once looked sad in front of them. Even the merchants who visit the village will be received by Candace with the utmost hospitality. From introductions to accommodations, she arranges everything in good order. Perhaps she might even be too gentle for the merchants' comfort. After all, this village is next to Great Red Sand. Leaving the monsters aside, lawless bandits must have long had this village in their sights. Is the Guardian truly capable of protecting everyone... and their business as well? One night, a drunken merchant dared to ask: "Guardian, we can do business in this village, no problem. But as you know, this desert is a real den of outlaws..." "You need not worry about this. | Character Story 4 | Those who do not respect the rules shall be the "enemies" of Aaru Village. Whether they be Eremites hiding in the sands, bandits disguised as adventurers, or Treasure Hoarders attempting to steal goods... Anyone who dares to invade the village, no matter how they may try to hide and escape, will eventually receive the punishment they deserve. Those who sincerely confess their guilt will be forgiven and given enough supplies to cross the sands, but never again will they be permitted to show their faces around Aaru Village. As for the more recalcitrant sort... Their despicable souls shall find company only with the desert sands. A former member of the Eremites once warned his companions that Candace, the terrifying Guardian of the village, is a true descendant of King Deshret. The shield in her hand possesses the blessing of Al-Ahmar, such that as long as its wielder holds it tightly, every grain in the great desert will heed her call. So if Candace so wishes, she could even send forth a huge sandstorm to engulf all her foes. Not only that, her amber left eye can also perceive the future and read the fates of others. Indeed, such is her terrible might that none can ever escape her pursuit. | Character Story 5 | Only Candace herself knows that she has never really felt the blessing of Al-Ahmar. "The Guardians have never been blessed by the grace of god" — this is a secret handed down from Guardian to Guardian. Only when a new Guardian takes up their shield will they be told the truth. The effects of the truth on those now in the know has varied. Some gave up and became so despondent that they stopped practicing martial arts. Some came to believe that since they were not being watched, they didn't have to obey the rules either, and so acted recklessly, even in violation of the law. But Candace was not depressed. "My lance and shield are not wielded as a prayer for a god's blessing." "My duty will not change, regardless of whether any god favors us or not." She practices diligently day after day and through this has forged both an extraordinary will and martial skills. Many who have visited Aaru Village have extended invitations to Candace, wondering why someone as capable as her would choose to live in such an inconspicuous place. If she was willing to leave, they often say, she may yet be able to start a new career... | Candace's Trinkets | Candace often buys all kinds of trinkets from merchants who visit Aaru Village. Hairpins adorned with aquamarine beads, headbands made of silk and satin, gilded necklaces, metal bracelets engraved with Kalpalata Lotus patterns, pendants with the emblems of the Akademiya's Darshans drawn upon them... While Dehya has encouraged her to dress up more often and use the Mora she spends on herself, Candace feels that some things are too fragile to survive her daily work environment, and so she puts them deep in her wardrobe. So it seems that these trinkets will come in handy only when Candace temporarily puts her duties aside and changes into other clothes to have a rest in the shade — or perhaps she might just give it to a friend as a gift. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
| Vision | With outsiders pouring in, Aaru Village was faced with a variety of unprecedented circumstances. They now had Treasure Hoarders pretending to be businessmen within the village, mercenary groups hijacking trade caravans, unscrupulous vendors engaged in charlatanry... Moreover, after seeing people who came from abroad, the residents of Aaru Village gradually began to yearn for life outside. Gradually, people tried to go out to make a living, and fewer and fewer young people were willing to stay in the village. The former Guardians had long been dissatisfied with Candace, who, as they saw it, had "abandoned" their traditions. Seeing that the village was in such a situation, they again held a meeting and prepared to challenge her. "What we Guardians must do is maintain order in the village!" "Candace! What you have done will only cost this village its peace!" "Candace! Go and fulfill your duties now!" This is actually pretty exciting, she can make any non-bow/catalyst user a Pseudo-Childe, with dmg on her skill that’s alomst the same as Yelan’s E, with shorter and a shield too-
-Imagine having Razor/Beidou be on-field triggering both sides of electro-charged, leaves room for 2 other units, i think either becoming a Raiden-National Lite (with Pyro and maybe an Anemo) or a Hyperbloom team (with 2 other Dendros, i think ideally Tighnari and Collei/Traveler), since both of them infuse themselves with electro. Or even Dorei for the lolz. In here to could be Kuki main dps (???? since she does scale off ATK and her animations are pretty too.
Also here could be Hydro-Electro Keqing with a cursed rotations involving Xiangling or Thoma, who knows.
-Or even make both Bennet and Xiangling be the driver for Xiangling’s ult, allowing for easy energy funnneling without losing the hydro aura with all the wave dmg from Candance’s ult (needs to be tested for sure)- leaving another spot for someone else(???.
-Maybe even an autonomous freeze Rosaria/Kaeya/badlyplayedAyaka and completing the other spots to become a Fridge team? Since Rosaria has p good multipliers and bascially the same charged attack as Hu Tao.
-Hell even main dps, on-field Xinqiu ?? like what’s that even for? it sounds fun-

Xingqiu on-field dps? o_O! Omg? This guy is damned to stay in a pocket but Candace can get him out in the field and gift him mistsplitter. Who came up with such a bright idea? They again changed the team for inventing characters. This information is shocking.

Candace wouldn’t add any value to this team, because she can’t infuse Yoimiya’s attacks.
Definitely would be better to just to XQ and Yelan instead.
You should read her kit again, the Hydro infusion is just a side dish to the powerful Elemental NA buff she offers (which should work with *any* infused NAs, not just Hydro). On top of this, Kandake’s buff and Yunjin’s buffs can both be used together without major diminishing returns due to how Yun’s flat dmg buff is calculated.
She can buff cyno burst a lot and that’s all what matters to me.

She kinda sounds like a hydro thoma fused with yunjin, it has potential.
They should add a clause to her Burst that gives her bonus NA damage based in her Max HP. I do wonder who that hydro infusion might benefit though. Maybe in an electro charge team since most electro characters don’t have electro infusion on their NA except for Keqing. Maybe in a Bloom team as well, so the Dendro characters can activate their own blooms if you built the Dendro character as EM……..one problem with this though…..the only dendro character that can be infused by Candace’s burst currently is the Traveler.
You could also build Candace as an EM/HP hybrid so she can use the infusion on herself for bloom damage.
She can also be used in a double hydro Hu Tao team in spiral abyss (C6 only I guess). So basically paired with either Yelan/XQ with the remainder for another team.
Well, as a hydro character, she will have reactions with everything and can only get better with age as more new characters are released. Dehya for example will be a 5* pyro claymore, and if Dehya doesn’t utilize pyro infusion then this might not be a bad idea. Same for Al-Halthaim.
If you think so, then re-read the description of all the characters you named. Her potential is simply enormous. With new characters of any element (except geo, ofc), she will only get better. She is not limited to only one team, but she can do it here and there. But in teams with hyperbloom, borgeon, vape, e-charged, she looks much more confident.

cope more, im referring to all the 3.0 and 3.1 chars. we all know hu tao is numba wan objectively theres no way around it. design wise competing with dori she looks the best but more importantly kit wise she looks the most interesting. shes the 1st new infuser support and looks to be rly gud in quick swap teams. her kit universally buffs elem n atks so she works with any self infusers of other elements. idk how the skill will exactly work but from the looks of it, but based on the wording it seems like a true counter skill instead of a parry like beidou and yun jin. thats rly gud cuz it means u dont have to worry about skill issues or latency, and unlike beidou where you have to rely on enemy ai to work and be active, she can just charge it like yunjin. as for how long that charge time is? unkown to me; having to fully charge yunjin skill for max particles is a waist of previous buff timers, and this is irrelevant to skill issues cuz having to wait for an enemy to finally atk can be a longer waiting room.
anyways, for all the other chars, nilou looks awkward with team limitations and weird skill times. cyno looks cool but hes just razer xiao. tighnari lol. collei and dori are just basic supports with cucked icds. so as of now candace is the best as of now, especially with cons making timers better, boosting stats, and adding off field hydro so combine that with if u hav the infusion also. c6 candace with yelan still might be enough hydro for hu tao, but if it is than we get a full hydro res supported team since only xq healing scales with hp. this brings up the stupidity of hoyo “design” tho being why do chars like this only buff n atks. it should be just basic atks all together (normal/charge/plunge). its such a weak mentality.
Seems like she was designed to be an hydro Yunjin for Nilou (since the later use normal attacks and can only use hydro and dendro partners) but the hydro infusion makes me wonder of what other comps it would make possible.
Ayaka freeze comp maybe
Nilou’s self-infusion counts as Elemental Skill DMG so Candace’s buffs are useless. Obviously you could play her with just the infusion but Nilou’s base attack is crazy low.
The phrasing is “Characters deal increased Elemental DMG with their Normal Attacks.” instead of “Characters deal increased Elemental DMG when they deal Normal Attacks DMG”. For instance, Yunjin burst description says “When Normal Attack DMG is dealt to opponents, Bonus DMG will be dealt based on Yun Jin’s current DEF.”.
Since it doesn’t refer to “Normal Attack DMG” specifically, I think Candace will still increase Nilou’s damage and we’re in a similar case to Beidou’s burst not working with Raiden’s burst because the phrasing is a bit unclear.
Or I’m just coping, who knows.
It’s leaning towards not working with Nilou, because Nilou’s skill specifically says it does elemental skill damage like Raiden says it does burst damage. Would be great if it worked, because if it doesn’t, that REALLY seals the deal with the kind of teams she works with. She’s already pigeon holed into bloom, but to not even work with Candace is kind of sad. Yelan and XQ at least will work with her just like they work with Raiden.
Raiden’s Burst mode had Burst damage, but she still triggers Xinqiu’ rainswords that are triggered by normal attacks ?
XQ as main dps, Ayato (normal attacks when E is down), Kaeya auto-freeze?, although needs C1 at least for more consistent hydro infusion
Everything about her seems incredible, but I bet fellas gonna say crap about her because of the hydro infusion, just as it was with Chongboy and c6 Bokendaboken… Shame.
But good design overall!
The difference with her and Chongyun is that she also buffs damage and is hydro. Hydro is better than cryo since it allows much more than just melt and freeze. Chongyun only buffs attack speed and skill cd, which just aren’t as useful. He needs Shenhe’s buffs to make infusing normals decent, which means 2 slots are used for supports. Candace buffs damage and infuses at the same time, which means she can create meme builds, but also just be a buffer for characters that override the infusion like Yoimiya. At 40k HP, she’ll give a whopping 40% damage bonus to normal attackers, which is honestly amazing. If that also scales with Yunjin’s flat attack buffs, it’s even more crazy. I am curious if Bennett would override her skill though.
Oh and Chongyun’s infusion is a circle…
about Bennett. I think no. his c6 redefines infusion more strongly.
She loosk quite decent actually. Will probbaly work well as support for Ayato, maybe even as on-field carry.
