Item Story

This is a story from the days after the Lord of Sand's dreams fell apart and the Grandmaster of Verdure hid the whispers of the demonic skies away.
The ears of decay broke the great divine realm into many kingdoms before grinding them all into sand.
A queen from amongst those kingdoms burnt the little prince's gilded robes and crown, and had him escape garbed in the sackcloth of a servant;
Years passed, and the prince was reduced to being the son of one who ruled over the slave markets, and then to a wanderer who had lost everything.

"When I could still weep over the sunrise above the tower of mirages, I offered advice to my overlord, crushing many cities at his side."
"I once blessed the son of the former king upon his birth: Even after his departure, hymns of praise for him shall continue on..."
"I have misjudged many people and happenings in the past, but no longer — for now I see nothing at all. This is destiny's punishment upon me."
"Become my apprentice. Be my eyes and describe to me the people and things in this gilded desert."
"I hope to one day weave the poems of heroes into the most beautiful tapestry to exist in the divine courts."

Coins are eroded when passed from hand to hand, but noble things become stronger as they change hands.
His last owner was a blind poet. Later, the story changed from a tale of a master and a servant to that of a master and apprentice.

"Before we parted, Mother told me that we would meet again in the eternal oasis..."
"Use this sword as the key to the paradise's gate, and rebuild the kingdom amidst emeralds and pomegranates."

Hearing the story of the wandering princeling, the aged poet caressed the dull blade of the black sword. At length, he replied:
"Thus do our crossed destinies duly end, for I am but a trifle in your epic."

"Master..."

"Xiphos, your fate is above those of us humble poets. You should not stoop so low as to write stories for others—"
"You are the one favored by the Jinni. You, who wield the Key of Khaj-Nisut, are the prince of the once-lost kingdom."
"Embark on your wanderings amongst the failing kingdoms. You shall create new tales and find the eternal oasis..."
"In the times when I wrote hymns for my overlord and love poems for the prince, I fantasized about writing for the hero of destiny."
"Allow me, please, to recount your epic — the epic of your reunion with your mother and the return of the Lord of Sand's glory to this realm."

In the end, their paths would cross — the crown prince who became a slave and then a hero, and the mercenary who fell from the throne.

Many legends mention a certain key. It is said to have commanded the sands to form a flowing river in mid-air and sealed the homeland after the Lord of Sand parted ways with old friends.
They even say that it was used to hide the desert tower and paradise of dreams away under the aegis of illusions when the bubble burst and the nations were scattered.
This key was passed between the hands of mortal tyrants and kings, till at last it, too, returned to the sand's embrace.
As for the aged blind poet, he would follow the trace of stories and blood-tainted footsteps, and finally find his way to the forest...

  1. This weapon banner is a no-brainer if you plan to get Nilou as it’s running with Jade Cutter as the other 5 star, you either get her best in slot or second best in slot.

  2. Unfortunately, this sword is only good for Nilou. For characters who want Elemental Mastery, this sword gives too little EM, you gonna have to c5 it to get any decent amount of EM from it.

The Staff of the Scarlet Sand though, is good on many characters since it just gives you a ton of ATK and EM. I guess every banner needs to have 1 SSR weapon for RNG to screw you over with. If you have Nilou though, I guess both weapon is good.

    • The Staff doesnt give EM, its Atk scaling based off EM is laughlably bad on anyone doesnt build EM, its only saving grace is the high CR.

    • This is almost 100% going to be the bis for Kuki though. I only say it with this much confident because I’m one of the rare species of Cookie mains, but this weapon is a no-brainer for me. I either get this, or the second best weapon for her, which also happens to be the best looking weapon for her.

      • aggravate Kuki would like Jade cutter more since aggravate benefits with crit hits.
Plus, I don’t think the effect, aside from the 20% hp, works off-field. So, He would only have more heals because of the 80%+ hp bonus

        • It’d be a weird decision for it to not work off-field when Nilou has an elemental skill that can be used to add an aura that works when she’s not on the field, no?

          • The buildup to that off-field aura is a 3-hit elemental skill combo which will trigger the weapon before she swaps out. There’s no explicit need for the weapon to work off-field in that case. In fact, the aura doesn’t deal damage afaik, only applies wet same as Barbara’s E, so it wouldn’t give you weapon stacks anyway.

        • Theorizing here–I might be missing some facts… If this effect works off-field, I think it’d be great for a hybrid hyperbloom + healer Kuki with EM share and ATK buff. Using a Tenacity build with HP/HP/HP mainstats, this weapon at R1 would give her 55K HP and buff team for 110 EM + 20% ATK.

It looks like she’d benefit from the full stack EM share bonus too, so Kuki herself gains like 308 EM, and would add some hyperbloom power to her. A team like:
          1. Ayato/Nilou,
          2. Kuki,
          3. Kazhua/Sucrose, and
          4. Dendo MC/Nahida would be qte.

      • Summit shaper isn’t considered his signature weapon by hoyoverse, it was just introduced on his first banner and then the rest of the same came along.
This is just proven from his first rerun where freedom sworn was on the weapon banner for him.

Albedo just tends to have random 5 star swords be rated up when it’s his banner, since his best weapons were both event exclusive and f2p (lol).
I’m honestly expecting them to put something like jade cutter on the banner. So even Nilou wanters get a win win for the weapon banner, also the fact jade cutter is just a great sword for literally anyone but some prefer different swords.
Jade cutter also hasn’t been rated up for a while for being a limited weapon (last time it was on a banner was on Yae Miko’s weapon banner which was all the way back in March so it would have been 7 months since it’s been on a banner (which is a while for a good weapon)

      • I can say with a lot of confidence that R1 Key is more valuable than C6 on Nilou.

The 86% max HP allows you to hit around 70000~ with the appropriate artifacts almost maxing out her bonus, and the EM means she can trigger blooms herself without you losing a lot of DPS. Plus, 140~EM bonus for the party is like having a Sucrose slotted as a weapon, it’s ridiculous.

It’s sad because it’s very ugly, but stat-wise it is invaluable to have.

      • Mihoyo didn’t even use this weapon in Nilou character trailer.

That means they know full well that it looks so ugly on Nilou, yet they still designed this sword to be like this. Why?

I really don’t understand their marketing logic.

        • Weapons of Genshin have their own stories.
So Hoyoverse made weapon’s design fit with ancient character which appeared in story.
ex) Ayaka & Mistsplitter reforged and Yoimiya & Thundering pulse, this weapons don’t fit with that characters not at all.

  3. 20% hp increase on r3?
    25% hp increase on r4?
then back to 20% hp increase on r5

    Something’s wrong with the descriptions?

It goes up by 5% each refinement.
      20 -> 25% -> 30% -> 35% -> 40%.

This website is just a little out of date since i don’t think it’s documented recent changes to Cyno and Nilou either. There’s also some wording errors as proven by this page lmao.

  4. If this weapon has a decent companion on its banner and combined with the new 4* weapons, it looks like its finally that time of the year again where it’s feasible to roll on a weapon banner.
