Item Story
This story takes place thousands of years ago, in an era after the foolish God-King was buried by the sandstorms. Mortal cities scattered across the land, amongst which Tulaytullah, where men and women of wisdom gathered and resided, was the most outstanding. The city was dotted with buildings roofed with sapphire domes and adorned with emerald gardens of blooming trees and flowing fountains. In the times following the God-King's departure, this fortunate city still glowed with wisdom and prosperity. People say that a warrior named Xiphos once lived in this city of sapphire and emerald. Xiphos was adept at wielding his double-edged sword, and he saved many a maiden from monster attacks, snatching many treasures from them in the process. In an ancient Tighnarian lore, his sword was indwelt by a twisted, cruel Jinni, Which was why the blade was not dulled but rather sharpened by slaughters, not smudged but instead brightened by blood. "My dearest Master, let me feast on that rosy juice, indulge me with the crimson brew." "My affection gushes forth only for you, like the daughter of grapevines entertains the tipplers with her bloody sacrifice." "So long as you own my affection, and the moon shines on your ever-youthful face," "So long as your foes hold affection for this world, and have not forgotten their mothers' names, you shall be a warrior unmatched." Later on, the swordsman adored by the Jinni of moonlight would encounter an exiled foreign wanderer. The wanderer had accepted silver coins, blood money from kings opposed to Tulaytullah, and he shouldered their grudges and hatred against the hero. Thus they who should have become friends at some bar became foes in battle, fighting each other to the death with the moonlight as their witness. In the fight, their blades were bathed in ruby wine while the overripe pomegranate burst, vital, vivid red pouring from the rupture... The deadly duel finally settled. The pale moon cast its cold light upon the winner and the defeated alike. "Whichever direction the wind blows, there is never a single ripple in the cup of life." "The three departed goddesses had long determined the heroes' fate, even if they could never fathom it themselves." The wanderer took the moonlit sword, picked up the bloodstained silver coins, and trod in silence toward the distant rainforest. Thus deprived of Xiphos' protection, the city lost its luster and withered away in the following years. Its buildings and gardens were ground down into the dirt along with its destiny, and then the howling desert gales consigned them to oblivion. Ultimately, the black key and the young prince's quest to rejuvenate his kingdom both sank into the sand's embrace... |

I’m willing to bet my left cheek: Muheye initially designed Kagotsurube Isshin (Kazuha’s sword reward from his story quest) with this passive at R1. Then someone raised the idea “hey, we can make money out of this!” hence here we are lol.
Best sword in the game on God
By sheer luck I got three copies of this. Question: refine or nah? I have Kuki and planning to get Kazu on his rerun.
short answer: Depends on your teams and weapons :/
longer version: Both like it so its not wasted. I would say that kazuha teams benefit a little more from it then kuki teams. But maybe that’s just me XD
For example: My kazuha is most of the time in my ayaka team and ayaka has a high burst cost so it’s a good choice. My kuki on the other side is only in a hyperbloom team with dendroMC, yelan and xingqiu. So she needs not that much er bc dendroMC has fav sword and er sands and yelan with xingqiu are two hydro so they are fine without. Kuki herself just uses her E so that’s that. Bc all of that my kuki uses iron sting and thats fine. In the end my kazuha has a r4 xiphos and kuki a r3 (not that it matters) iron sting. I hope it helps a litte 😀
My Kuki is also in a hyperbloom team – so much fun lol – and is also holding Iron Sting. You have a fine point there, she doesn’t need much ER. I guess I’m gonna level up one sword, give it to Kuki and keep the other two swords level 1 until Kazu reruns.
key of khaj and jadecutter are just bonuses when pulling r5 xiphos
watch me getting R11 rain cutter :’)
Got 2 Khaj-Nisut and 1 PJC for only 1 Xiphos but 7 Wandering evenshit… R5 Xiphos when ?
This weapon is going to be insane to Kazuha nd Kuki shinobu
“Multiple instances of this weapon can allow this buff to stack.”
So which is better?
1 character holding R2?
2 characters holding R1?
1 character holding R5 = 2 characters holding R1s
I don’t understand the “will trigger every 10s” part.
Does this mean it snapshot the holder’s EM as ER every 10s?
If that’s the case, it’s kinda hard to use the effect of C2 Kazuha because we don’t know when exactly it will do its snapshotting.
“This effect will still trigger even if the character is not on the field.”
Based on this sentence, it will be difficult to snapshot. The value will change whenever it gets triggered.
But we’ll see…
– The passive is always active
– The passive always re-evaluate the ER% based on EM –> You can trigger further EM increase –> Each 10s, the passive will recalculate your ER% based of you current EM
– You “2s” window frame when you get “previous ER%” + “new ER%”
Example.
– Traveler with 1000 EM.
– Passive : +36% ER for 12s.
[Getting +200EM bonus due to gameplay]
– 10 sec after : New Passive : +43,2% ER for 12 + Previous Passive : +36% for 2 sec remaining.
In short the passive is always active. The %ER is just recalculated every 10 sec to account EM change.
is this given free or gacha?
Region specialty 4* weapons are always limited weapon banner gacha, and also very good.
this weapon would be good on Sub-DPS Dendro MC, but only with R3 or above. R1 only provides about ~30% ER for 800EM, which is not good since your MC need ~220ER to ult off cd. R5 will gives 59% for 800EM, pair with artifacts ER EM EM( 3 EM artifacts only give a extra ~10% ER so i think ER sands is more valuable) that have ER sub stat, in total MC will have ~250ER, also the damage will be boost a whole lot more since the MC’s passive scale with EM. This gonna be an expensive build… best artifact set i can think of is Gilded Dreams because it also give 50EM for each different element in the team. If you wanna build the MC, go for it, but it just so expensive…
R1 this or R5 Iron Sting for Nilou?
Iron sting would be better. Xiphos’s passive didnt sound interesting for the time being.
are you dumb? xiphos moonlight r1 obviously over iron sting r5… did you read the passive? ER… free ER! kazuha who desperately needs ER! and it’s not any small amount of ER from the passive either! it’s a huge amount
For Nilou, not for Kazuha.
I’d imagine Nilou would benefit from the EL DMG% more than ER if she’s the onfield dmg
obviously xiphos’ moonlight at r1 would be better than iron sting r5 for kazuha, you are straight up wrong.
we are talkin about nilou, not kazuha, pls learn hor to read
Either way Nilou’s blooms don’t scale with %dmg so iron sting’s refinement effect is useless, meanwhile Nilou will definitely have ER problems so this weapon is great with her.
Iron Sting for Nilou.
I know the ER sounds seducing, but if you are playing support Nilou, be aware that her Burst does insane damage.
You have to make an arbitrage between frequency and amont.
– Nilou has 70ER cost. Relatively doable
– If you’re playing support Nilou, I am guessing you’ll max her HP, EM and ER.
– So, securing 150% ER is not that hard… especially if you give Xiphos to your Traveler.
– You’ll be playing a second hydro that generates a lot of Hydro particles
– Iron Sting (R5) gives Nilou the missing DMG she is lacking to balance her insance Dendro core and Hydro DMG.
—> So, go with R5 Iron Sting for Nilou. It’s her f2p BiS.
R1 this or R5 Iron Sting for kazuha?
It’s better than iron sting
Iron Sting is just an EM stick and R5 isn’t really worth it, while the new sword also gives a lot of ER
If we consider full em/em/em + r1 this sword, kazuha will only have around 950em, so this sword will only give him around 34% er. If you can get 30-35% er from substats, making kazuha’s total er to 160-170%, than I would say it is worth it. If your kazuha has no er% substats, than 134% er kazuha is not worth it, when we compare to 800em 170% er kazuha (either sacrifical or iron sting+er sands).
Conclusion: see for yourself.
I agree.
