The interactions Koleda and Ben have is what Lyney and Lynette could’ve been, but instead we got contradicting kits…
Koleda gets different animations for her basic attack combo and ultimate, and it does a little more damage when Ben is in the team. Wow.

Lyney is only a limited 5*, and Lynette is a 4* you can get for free, whereas Koleda is a 5* on the standard banner and Ben is a 4* you can get for free.
If Lyney and Lynette had kits that would synergise with each other, Lyney would have to be on the Standard banner, otherwise it would basically be pay 2 win.
I remember other gachas having two 5* characters with synergistic kits, for example, those two gamer girls from Blue Archive that I forgot the names of, but they were characters that you can pull on their standard banners.
Mihoyo has had fully linked characters before (Blueberry blits and Molotov Cherry from Hi3) but in a game like Genshin unique interactions like that would be weird
Of course there’s characters that synergise and are thematically related (Furina/Neuvilette or Shenhe/Ganyu) but unlike ZZZ there’s no faction mechanic and unlike Hi3 there’s no QTE mechanic, in genshin the characters themselves are all independent and don’t interact in battle
While I think actual linked characters probably wouldn’t work, I wouldn’t mind unique switch-in voicelines

I think it depends on how they implement them but I believe it could work.
The only ‘problems’ I could think of is elemental application or artifact/weapon triggering if they make both characters attack at the same time (some need on-field some off-field, how would those types of attacks be categorized? something old? something new? something borrowed, something blue), but that can also be good depending on how they do it.
But alas, as you could expect from my name, I don’t really have much hopes in the genshit dev team
eh I disagree on the p2w thing, just like Koleda and Ben the interaction is on the 5* kit no on the 4* and both Ben and Lynette were given away for free, so you’d only have to get the 5*.
Also it’s harder to get a standard you want than a limited character, although they also have the 300 pulls thing that hsr did so it’s definitely easier than in Genshin.
But yeah a lot of gachas have things that genshin could implement but they refuse to

You kinda want what we can have in Chrono Trigger :
– Synergies between characters to allow funni effects like a flame spin-to-win or lightning energized feral cat (this one always cracks me up)
I don’t think we will ever get something like that in Genshin because of how basic this game is.
One can dream but i won’t lie it would be a really nice addition and might motivate some players try new things.
So trails are kinda neat I guess, for those who like it + the idea behind the test run to unlock them is kinda cool (we’ll see how good those actually are when they release), but seriously, if I’m not mistaken we can only get 6 per year… what the fuck hoyo??

Legit, I’m most excited about the test runs built for each specific characters, the trails themselves are meh but whatever.
But this is how Hoyo operates, we have nearly 100 characters and there’s like 14 skins at most by now in the span of what, 4 years?.
They also introduced new picture poses that could potentially take nearly 8 months for your favorite character to get their first pose… we’re getting old here.
Yeah it sucks. It’s like those events where we could only pick 3 out of like 20 decorations for the teapot, except this one goes on seasons each month.
I don’t mind the trails, although they are extremely simple and could be better, I always thought they should experiment more with characters’ sprint animations, for example Dori or Kokomi are some of the characters that I think should have had a sprint that matches their attack animations, but that idea seems to be canned since Hu Tao on 1.3 (Ayaka doesn’t count since she already had that even before Mona existed, she was just released later due to her nation)
But meh, my hopes for this game are just continuously going to even lower depths that I didn’t even knew existed, this will probably be my last comment here.

Designs shown in official media tend to stay as they are, every other character from travail has gone untouched

IMO they picked one of the worst events to turn into something permanent, characters being randomly available sucks so much
I’ve already left some of my thoughts on the 3.7 version, dunno if there’s an easier way to see them other than changing this page’s link number, we might need to ask that to our Dear Honey Hunter Dodogama Admin Creator Thing
But expanding a bit more, when I did the comparison of the Theater to Pokémon Masters’ Legendary Arena I didn’t talk about how it impacted meta and how character value changed after it, for example if a support could solo a fight by stalling and self healing, it was worth more than before. There’s actually a whole excel document where the community lists all possible character solo strategies.
Since the Theater for some godforsaken reason also has a timer and forces you to always use 4 characters, I feel like the value of characters remains pretty much unchanged.
Being forced to use 4 characters isn’t really that bad in the end since it’s only 8 fights and you could complete the mode by using only 16 characters, Only need 4 On-fielders and the mode already gives us 3 on this rotation, so you can fill the rest of your cast with one on-fielder and the rest pure off-fielders and buffers. The real problem is the lack of those latter units, but personally I was able to clear easily doing Scara team with the initial cast, then Mono teams with Clorinde and Arle, then Raiden overload, although I am aware I do have more units invested in than the average player to just steamroll as I did (I literally have all my owned units at lvl 80+ and minimum of talent lvl 6).
It’s also so easy that it can be completed without picking any buff cards, or so I did.
Then there’s the rewards, and damn they suck. The poses are just idles/skills slightly tweaked and they called it a day, I feel like they did all of them in like 1 or 2 hours at most, definitely not more than one day of work. They probably put more effort into making the presentation pretty with the menus and the room, but not much into the game mode itself.
With all that and also the new character voice lines I feel like this new mode is aimed towards more casual players who don’t play much but are interested in other aspects of the game, since those are the ones who’re getting (somewhat) rewarded, and the game mode aims to make them play more and collect more characters (and that feels gross btw but I digress)
Even though didn’t have my hopes that high up, I still expected more than what was delivered. Ultimately and unfortunately it’s yet another disappointment.

Genshin Official just posted on the Hoyolab, that they are going to “optimize the Imaginarium Theater due to the lack of positive feedbacks.”
They also mentioned that they are adjusting the “randomness of character acquisition” which is one of my main complaints in Imaginarium.
For me, it’s neat that they added more end game mode, but currently that mode is miserable and unfun to play 🙁
It’s nice to see that the devs themselves actually acknowledged the mode has issues, so I would like to see how they’re gonna improve Imaginarium to be more fun.
Personally I like Imaginarium theater, however I was hoping this feature was going to bring back the dungeon like domains we had in the past instead of having a single fighting room. Not having it designed in such a way was a big let down.
My only main gripe is it being placed on some weird end game rotation instead of giving us both spiral and Theater resets every 2 weeks.
Man that mode disappointed me, it wasn’t hard but it was just not interesting
It was actually SO easy that I beat the final boss using mono electro lv80 sethos because those were my last characters left

The only thing we get are some primos and poses for photo-mode-weebs.
Should have just copied Simulated Universe from Star Rail and call it a day.
Simulated Universe (especially the new version they released) is really fun and gives you occasions to try stupid stuff that always kind of work if you can get right cards. (and at the difficulty you want)

Picking buffs is more like a chore to get achievements. You read the buffs at first out of curiosity but when you play you see that they are just copy paste of buffs we already had during previous events nothing original was made.
I don’t know, like, when you do something with a healing team you can generate a massive bubble you can feed by overhealing yourself and deal damage massive damage according to the overheal? (not like the one from the healing set. A real big bubble like when you kill the big hydro frogs / birds)
Adding the weight of your shields to all your attacks? (would be REALLY FUN with Noelle)
Burning reaction can flare up and deal more damage to the main target and around? (Would make burning a stupidly fun reaction in this mode)
Writing this i mostly feel like this mode was done without anything in mind when i had 3 stupid ideas in 5 minutes.
TLDR: To me, it’s just abyss 2.0 except you have to use different characters.

Also, VV is an enemy debuff, not a player buff, the buffs are only on some of the characters that can ALSO use VV
And a lot of carries tend to be reaction triggerers too unless you play things like geo, freeze, physical or mono elements.

Natlan is close, and we still don’t have any chara who has a passive which refunds ascension gems material.
I don’t even want to think how much we could’ve recuperated a little bit, in that scenario. Not only 6 gemstones are way too much for 90, but also by converting we don’t get anything bonus.

Is this a real problem? Maybe it’s just cuz I’ve been playing since 1.0 but I have enough gems of every element to make upwards of 30 golds. I can honestly say I have not worried about those gems since maybe 1.5?
5.0 is coming, by now they shouldve already started putting event weapons in the souvenir or blacksmith shops just like they’ve done with the instruments
